RESUMO

The study purpose was measuring the physical activity of prospective physical education teachers in Palembang city during the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and methods. 552 participants (M: 307;F: 245) with a minimum age of 19 (21.27±1.66) participated in this study. The method of this study was survey, using IPAQ-SF to assess physical activity and energy expenditure levels based on MET. Data collection was carried out through an online survey using Google Forms. Results. The results of this study show that the majority of the participants combined the moderate and high levels of physical activity (88.77%) and only a small number of the participants were in the low level category (11.23%). The results of this study showed that the pandemic conditions do not prevent people from doing sufficient PA to maintain their health, but daily habits and knowledge differences related to health and physical activity might be the distinguishing factor between students majoring in sports and society in general. Conclusions. This study shows that most of prospective PE teacher candidates from three universities in Palembang combined the moderate and high PA levels. While there were some student athletes, non-athlete students also have the awareness to live a healthy life even though there is no demand for them to achieve certain targets. © Iyakrus, Bayu, W.I., Solahuddin, S., Usra, M., Yusfi, H., Victorian, A.R., & Ramadhan, A., 2022.

RESUMO

Background. This study aimed to obtain an overview of learning outcomes using a virtual YouTube-based application as a medium for fundamental movement skills learning at the Elementary School. Methods. The method used in this study was classroom action research. The learning system created and implemented is a YouTube-based virtual learning system. The design used is a cycle model that includes planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The population used was a purposive sample of 32 students in 5th grade. The instrument used was in the form of field notes (Duration Recording), namely the use of virtual Blended Learning based on physical education YouTube videos for fundamental movement skills through observation with an average of 55% so that the target achievement was determined with an average of 80%. Results. Based on research in cycle I (Actions A, I, and W), 80.43%, because it has not exceeded the research target, it was continued to cycle II. Based on the results of the data analysis, the actions in the second cycle generated a perfect change (85.42%). This change can be seen after applying instructional media and explicit instructions that students can understand. Paired sample t-test shows the results of the value of 50.87 with p=0.000 <0.05, which means that there is an increase in students' fundamental movement skills. Conclusion. The fundamental movement skills learning using a virtual YouTube-based application is entirely meaningful in increasing the Learning Media for Sindang Sari 1 Elementary School students.

RESUMO

The study purpose. This study aimed to observe the effect of virtual media-based obstacle run training on dribbling ability of women futsal players in the Women’s Futsal Student Activity Unit (UKM) during the Covid-19 pandemic by examining the effect of the treatment. Materials and methods. The research used a pre-experiment method using a quantitative descriptive approach with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. A total of 30 students who participated in the Women’s Futsal UKM at the University of Suryakancana became the research population. These female futsal athletes are campus team amateur athletes below the professional level of the Indonesian Futsal League. Results. Based on research data, the average value before the obstacle run training treatment was 10.840 seconds and after the treatment was 9.600 seconds, which means that there was time reduction, or in other words, the woman futsal player’s dribbling ability increased. The result of the test showed that the value of the interval training results before and after being given was 0.859. Conclusions. It is suggested that further research explore the use of different kinds of media in improving the dribbling skills of futsal athletes during the Covid-19 pandemic. © Syamsul Taufik, M., Solahuddin, S., Pratama, R. RESUMO

Physical activity levels have decreased during the Covid-19 pandemic because of the lockdown period and related social distancing measures. Although Indonesian government has gradually allowed people to do outdoor activities, there are still large-scale restrictions on doing activities in public places. Palembang is one of biggest cities in Indonesia, in which students and workers have been learning and working from home during the pandemic. The purpose of this study was to analyse the physical activity levels and body mass index (BMI) profiles of the working-age population in Palembang, Indonesia, during the COVID-19 pandemic. In total, 735 participants (M: 416;F: 319) with a minimum age of 15 (26.14±9.46) participated in this study. The method of this study was a survey using an online Short-Form of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ-SF) to assess physical activity and energy expenditure levels based on Metabolic Equivalents of Task (MET). The data was collected for 4 weeks in February 2021 by measuring the height and weight and by observing the physical activity behaviour of the participants through the survey. The results of the BMI calculation showed that almost half of the participants were a combination of underweight, overweight, and obese, while participants in the normal category included only slightly more than half. The results of the physical activity level showed that more than half of the participants were in the low and medium category, while participants in the high category included slightly fewer than 40%. Thus, the working-age population in Palembang City needs to increase their physical activity and maintain their nutritional intake to improve their BMI levels during the COVID-19 pandemic. © 2021, Editura Universitatii din Pitesti.
